Easy Scan to PDF Tutorial


Have you ever needed to email a document that was completed and signed by hand? Use the scan to PDF tutorial below! It's the easiest and cheapest way to get hand written documents into a format that you can email.

What do you need?

  • Working scanner connected to your computer .
  • Windows Paint program (comes installed with Windows).
  • A free print to PDF program like CutePDF. (You can get this on the Internet).

    Steps to Create a PDF from a Hand Written Document

    1. Put your document to be scanned in the scanner.
    2. Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories and click on Paint.
    3. Maximize the Paint program window if it is small.
    4. On the Paint "File" menu, click From Scanner or Camera
    5. On the "What Do You Want to Scan?" dialog box, choose Color photo and press Scan.
    6. The document will be scanned and then appear in Paint.
    7. Choose File, Print and on the Printer window, Choose the Print to PDF program you have installed (i.e. CutePDF).
    8. A window will appear asking you where you want to save the PDF file that is being created.
    9. Choose a location (My Documents would be good) and press Print.
    10. Go to the location you specified to get your PDF document.

    That's it !
