Install Fonts in Windows XP

Follow the steps below to install fonts in Windows XP.

• Close any open Windows applications, such as Word or Outlook.
• Download or copy the font to the Windows | Fonts folder on your C: drive.
  

  OR

  1. Close any open Windows applications, such as Word or Outlook.
  2. Click on the Start button and click on Control Panel.
  3. On the Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes, or find Fonts and double click on it.
  4. Click on the File menu and choose Install New Font… Note: If a folder tree appears instead of the task pane, click Folders on the toolbar, and then under See Also, click Fonts.
  5. Find the font you want to install and click on it.
  6. In the Drives list, click the drive you want.
  7. In the Folders list, double-click the folder that contains the fonts you want to add.
  8. Under List of fonts, click the font you want to add, and then click OK.

  Notes:

• To select more than one font at once, hold down the CTRL key, and then click each of the fonts you want to add.
• You can also drag OpenType, TrueType, Type 1, and raster fonts from another location to add them to the Fonts folder. This works only if the font is not already in the Fonts folder..

TIP: New fonts are great, but if you install more than 500 on a Windows XP machine, it can really slow down the boot process. If you find your boot times become excessive and you have over 500 fonts, you might want to remove some that you don't use.
